Why the model number matters more here
A Kenmore model number normally begins with a three-digit prefix followed by a longer number. That prefix identifies the manufacturer that produced the machine. Once a technician knows it, everything else follows: the likely internal layout, which parts fit, and which faults are typical.
You will usually find the label under the lid, inside the door opening or on the back of the cabinet. Reading the full number out when you call is the single most useful thing you can do for a Kenmore service call.
