Common reasons a washing machine will not empty
- A drain pump filter clogged with lint, coins, buttons or hair.
- A drain hose that is kinked, crushed behind the machine, or pushed too far into the standpipe.
- An object caught in the pump, sometimes accompanied by a rattling sound.
- A drain pump that has failed and no longer runs.
- A blockage in the household drain or standpipe rather than in the washer.
- A control or sensing fault meaning the pump is never commanded to run.
